I have recently discovered the website Pinterest. It has inspired me to renew my former love of crafting. You see, I used to have a fondness for crocheting, quilting, candle-making, you name it. I even took a turn at refinishing furniture.
And then the kids arrived. They have this nasty habit of wanting to TOUCH my crafts. Kids + needles/hotglue/stapleguns = disaster. So I gave up crafting for a while.
And then...BAM. Pinterest came into my life, and I had to make a comeback. I would start small. Crocheting hats only takes a few hours of work. I could do this during naptime. I also had a plan to let Ainsley craft something as well. Perhaps that would appease the fact that she wasn't allowed to touch MY crafts.
We'll start with Ainsley's craft.

| I was inspired by this picture. |
So after a trip to JoAnns (aka The Mothership), we came home with supplies that would allow Ainsley to craft her very own wall art for her bedroom.
 |
| Checking out the supplies. |
 |
| Applying the glue. |
 |
| Adding the felt flowers. |
 |
| Concentrating. |
 |
| She would later tell Dad, "I did A LOT of work today." |
 |
| Created by Miss Ainsley. I'm especially fond of the orange circles together in the leg of the A. |
 |
| I was hoping for a cute picture of her showing off her work. Instead, I get Crazy Eyes. |
 |
| The final products. Ainsley's first Sunday of crafts. |
And now for my crafts. I was inspired by the following pictures...
Only I would be using clearance yarn and working without a pattern. I can do this. It was so fun to make something out of clearance and cheap-o supplies.
Here the kids are modeling the finished products...

Kinda hard to see Miss A's flower, but she's a bit of a mover and a shaker.
I was just glad she was looking at the camera!

I'm back, people. What should I do next weekend? I think I'll head on over to Pinterest to get inspired...
I am SO addicted to Pinterest! But, unlike you, I am so NOT crafty. I am completely left-brained and will screw up even the easiest project if it involves creativity. And despite that, I too made a trip to my local craft store and bought supplies to make some homemade wall art. We'll see how it turns out. I've kept my receipts in case my sanity returns and I realize what a dumb idea it was for me to even attempt a craft!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sure it will be wonderful! Keep reminding yourself that it's about the experience, not the finished product. Do you do pinterest on your phone or computer? I can't seem to get the app to work well...
